The phenomenon is a alignment of the sun with the equador line, which divides the northern and southern hemisfere of the planet.

It can be seen thought the shadow of the sun that reflects on the oblisk of the monument in Macapá.

During the Equinox* day and night are of equal lenght. The event takes place twice a year in Amapá, In March and September and attracts hundreds of tourists to the state.
